The 50 Corridor TMA will provide up to $5,000 in subsidies for the purchase of new bicycles and bicycle accessories in 2007. The subsidies are intended to promote bicycle commuting.

Any commuters who lives, works or travels along the 50 Corridor can apply for the subsidy, however, those commuters who work for TMA member employers will be considered first. (The subsidies are made possible through TMA employer dues.)

Subsidies will be awarded twice in 2007: April 15 and August 15.

Applications will be reviewed by a subcommittee of the TMA Board of Directors. Their decisions are final.

The committee will make selections based on information provided on the applications. Please note that the applicant can submit additional information and letters of support.

The cap for individual subsidies is $300; 100% of the cost of the bicycle can be reimbursed if the total cost is less than $300. Accessories, such as helmets and lights, can be considered for the subsidy.

The committee will determine the amount of the individual subsidy using the above guidelines.

Timeline

• March 23 – Deadline for first round of applications/subsidies
  
• April 16 – Approved applications are announced
  
• May 15 – All bicycles must be purchased and receipts submitted
  
• June 26 – program is announced and applications made available
  
• July 27 – Deadline for second round of applications/subsidies
  
• August 16 – Approved applications are announced
  
• September 15 – All bicycles must be purchased and receipts submitted

Process

• Interested commuters submit application to TMA; TMA member employees get preference. All applicants must be registered Commuter Club members.
  
• Committee makes decision on subsidy recipients. Committee can award any amount up to $4,000 during the first round of applications. Unfunded applications from the first round can be considered in the second round.
  
• Successful applicants are notified as to their subsidy amount.
  
• Successful applicants purchase their bicycles and approved accessories and submit receipts.
  
• Subsidies are paid by May 20 or September 20
  
• Committee makes recommendations for program on October 25.
