New web-based service

   If you are looking for an easy way to find a carpool or vanpool partner, check out www.50corridor.com's new Rideshare Board to the right. You'll be able to quickly and easily let your co-workers know that you would like to carpool or vanpool. The new feature also allows commuters to find cyclists who are riding similar routes in order to "pedal pool" to work. Available commuters are sorted by employer or worksite.

Free Apple Hill Shuttle
starts October 2nd

   Apple Hill visitors can once again avoid traffic congestion by hopping on a free shuttle for an enjoyable tour of Apple Hill ranches. The shuttle will stop at designated ranches every 15-30 minutes from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday through October 31st. To reach the parking area, take US 50 to Placerville and exit at Schnell School Road. Follow the signs to Schnell School.

   The shuttle is sponsored by El Dorado Transit and the El Dorado County Air Quality Management District. For more information call 5310642-5383.

Making tracks downtown

   The following work will occur in Downtown Sacramento as work progresses on the light rail extension to Amtrak:

  • Friday, September 24, crews will begin potholing on 8th Street in preparation for the installation of an 8" water line. There will be periodic lane closures during the day on 9/24, 9/27 and 9/28 between K and H streets.
  • The next step in the process for 7th Street is for the contractor to sawcut portions of the road in preparation for the eventually installation of the 48" sewer line. This will result in periodic lane closures on 7th Street between K and H streets beginning Friday, September 24 and will continue through Tuesday, September 28. All lanes will be open during commute hours.
  • The contractor will perform evening work on 7th Street between K and J streets: Wednesday (9/29) through Friday (10/1) and Monday (10/4).
