Work on the Iron Point Light Rail Station starts this month with SMUD relocating utility poles. There will be 216 parking spaces at the Iron Point light rail station.
This high tech equipment travels slowly along the Folsom extesion rail tracks and lifts up the concrete ties to allow the ballast (rock) to get underneath the tie. This stabilizes the track.
The El Dorado County Draft Bicycle Plan is available for review during September.

RT sets target date

Regional Transit officials have announced October 15, 2005 as the target date for bringing light rail service to Historic Folsom. While all the tracks have been laid, work continues on the stations, platforms and parking facilities. The Sunrise Extension opened in June 2004 with higher than anticipated ridership.

Sutter St. Ramp Closure

The Sutter Street off-ramp from Folsom Boulevard will be closed five days starting Friday, September 24. The closure will continue through Thursday, September 30. The closure will begin at 7 a.m. each day and will re-open at 4 p.m. each afternoon. During the closure, the southbound ramp off of Folsom Boulevard to Leidesdorff Street will be open. Northbound traffic on Folsom Boulevard should use Natoma Street to Decatur as a detour.

Crews will be installing a guard rail between the Sutter Street off-ramp and the new light rail tracks.

Folsom Pedestrians
are focus of workshop

The City of Folsom will hold its first Pedestrian Master Plan Public Workshop on September 22 from 6-8:30 p.m. in the West Activity Room at Folsom Community College. The focus of this workshop will be a map-based discussion with working groups to identify potential pedestrian improvements along major roadways, near major commercial areas, around the Historic District and adjacent to schools.

The Pedestrian Master Plan will identify existing benefits and disadvantages to the current pedestrian transportation system and establish policies, objectives and project priorities for improving that system.
